Target audience
This Clinical Dermatology Care course is aimed at registered nurses or allied healthcare professionals who wish to extend and consolidate their clinical knowledge in the field of dermatology nursing. It will appeal to particularly to nurses within the specialty, community / practice nurses, nurse practitioners and nurses who see patients with skin rashes in acute services.
Academic Credit
All students undertaking the course will have the opportunity to gain 30 credits at level 6 or 7 by completing a standalone work based learining module via Kings college London. Further information can be found at the below link;

Programme Overview
We offer seven themed study days. For completion of course 6 days must be attended including day 7 which will include a short learning reflections presentation by the student. Each day can be attended as single stand-alone study day for those not interested in completing the course.
Each study day will include an interactive element or practical workshop in addition to plenaries.
DAY 1
18th September 2018: Patient assessment and overview of dermatology therapeutics. Study day will include; Skin examination; Holistic patient assessment; Dermatological Investigations; How topical therapies work; Overview of drugs commonly used in skin disease.
DAY 2
25th September 2018: Eczema
Study day will include; Childhood eczema; Management of severe adult eczema; Habit reversal techniques; contact dermatitis; Topical therapy
DAY 3
2nd October 2018: Inflammatory skin conditions
Study day will include; Management of acne and rosacea; How to support patients with hidradenitis suppurativa; understanding alopecia; vitiligo
DAY 4
9th October 2018: Skin Cancer
Study day will include; Skin cancer screening and prevention; Precancerous lesions and treatments; Identification of common skin cancers; Treatment options for non-melanoma skin cancers; Melanoma diagnosis and management
DAY 5
16th October 2018: Psoriasis
Study day will include; Overview of immunology of psoriasis; Co-morbidities associated with psoriasis; Topical therapy options; Systemic and UV therapies and monitoring for side effects; Disease severity assessment
DAY 6
13th November 2018: Acute and Emergency Dermatology
Study day will include; Paediatric skin rashes; Skin infections and infestations; Drug eruptions; Dermatological emergencies and in-patient nursing care
DAY 7
27th November 2018: Reflections and learning presentations
(only applicable to course attendees)
This day will require course attendees to prepare and deliver a presentation to a small group of fellow students.

£750 Full course
£150 Per day
Fee includes – 7 full day, themed study days delivered by a variety of clinical experts (a minimum of 6 to be completed for course certificate), course handbook and further learning references.
